Osceola envisions a world without hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international, non-profit hunger relief agency driven by a vision of a world without hunger. Its focus is to engage local volunteers and involve them in hands-on meal-packing events. Osceola partners with Rise Against Hunger every year to host a packing event. During these events, thousands of meals are packed for shipment around the world to areas suffering from food scarcity and chronic hunger.

Our October 2023 Packing Event

On World Communion Sunday, October 1st, Osceola members, friends and neighbors came together to pack 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger. This marked our sixth meal-packing event and Rise Against Hunger’s 25th year. During the event, Fellowship Hall was filled with more than fifty volunteers wearing gloves and hairnets as they manned their different stations.

The resounding sound of a gong signaled another 1,000 meals had been packed. And with each milestone the excitement mounted as we came closer to reaching our goal. At the tenth gong, we celebrated knowing we had reached our goal of 10,000 meals packed.

Afterwards, lunch was served by church deacons to all volunteers.

The 10,000 meals are then packed and heading to the Philippines!
